Spring e-Learning Semester

After having taken 4 e-Learning courses and then completing facilitator training, I am set to facilitate my first course during the Spring 2009 Semester. This will be my first experience as a facilitator for an educator online course. During my last two years of teaching, I was a facilitator for students taking online classes through the Alabama ACCESS program. I am excited about facilitating online and helping develop a community of learners. What do you think about teaching online? What skills should online teachers consider the most important? I will keep you posted and ask for suggestions as I begin this new adventure in education. Please share your thoughts about online education and teaching.

Professional Development --The e-Learning Way

Alabama teachers check out e-Learning for Educators at the following website http://elearning.alsde.edu/
I am a retired teacher who taught for 27 years in the public school system. I discovered e-Learning my last 2 years in education and took 3 courses. It was truly the most beneficial professional development I did during my career. There are courses in technology, reading, math, science, social studies, ELL, differentiating instruction, and more. Each course earns a teacher 30 contact hours of credit for professional development. The courses last 6 weeks, and you complete a final project you can use in your class. Did I mention all of this is FREE!!
If you have taken an e-Learning class, which one did you take, and how do you feel about online learning as a means for professional development?
What did you like or dislike about this new style of learning?
